Since it is the night before Christmas, I have decided to not put up a recipe for the today and the tomorrow...I feel it is family time....yes...I will be busy in the kitchen fixing the meal and also busy making some holiday magic.....
So Remember the reason for the season...
I know sometimes we all get caught up in the hassle and bustle that we call life

sugar cookie recipe
This recipe I got from Taste of home`s Quick cooking magazine. I have made these several different times , for school and for home. They was a big hit. The recipe yeild 8 cups , I cut the recipe in half of sorts to not make so much. Severval different cookies can be made with the basic cookie dough recipe.
Here is the basic cookie dough recipe
2 1/2 cups butter ( no substitutes), softened ( 1 1/4 cup for 4 cups)
2 cups sugar ( 1 cup sugar)
2 eggs ( 1egg)
1/4 cup milk ( 1/8 cup milk)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract ( 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
8 cups all-purpose flour ( 4 cup flour)
4 teaspoon baking powder ( 2 teaspoons baking powder)
1 teaspoon salt ( 1/2 teaspoon salt)
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour , baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, beating until just combined. Divide dough into 4 -2-cup portions. Cover and refrigerate.
For the sugar cookie, just roll out and use those cookie cutters...just before putting in the oven sprinkle with some colored sugar then bake in a preheated oven 375 for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown...
For an extra special treat , take the dough and wrap around a Hershey kiss and then proceed to bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes....
these simple dough can make more then just sugar cookies....
