Grandma`s Oatmeal Bread

This recipe is from Ozark county times holiday edition of recipes

Grandma`s Oatmeal Bread

2 packages yeast, dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup shortening

put in mixing bowl; pour 1 1/2 cups of boiling water over this. Stir well. let cool to lukewarm

6 cups flour
2 eggs

Add about 2 cups of flour and mix well. add eggs and yeast and mix well. add remainder of flour, a little at a time. dough will be sticky . Grease sides on bowl, cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. then place on lightly floured board.,knead several times. Put in pan and let rise to double in size. Bake.


( this is all of the recipes as appears in the paper, i assume the oven temp should be about 350-400 degrees...)
