Choclate Applesauce cake

since it is a New Year...I have decided on doing something alittle different for the last two days of the week...we will still have recipes, but I vow to try and take pics of almost each step....
                               So let start out with a cake , this recipe is from a dessert only book
                                                     that I have

 
first step
mix 1 teaspoon baking soda with 2 cups applesauce( hot)
( I really didn't heat the applesauce up abit)

 
Sift the dry ingredients
2 cup sifted flour
1 Tablespoon cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
 

 
cream 1 cup butter or margarine( note to self make sure butter is soft)
with 2 cup sugar
 
 
add 3 eggs, beaten

 
alternately stir in applesauce

 
and the flour/spice mixture

 
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla
add raisins and nuts if you want at this step
 
 
Pour into oblong pan and bake  for 1 hour at 350 degrees
I decided I would use a cake pan

 
the finished cake with some Cool Whip on top

Chocolate Applesauce cake
 
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cup hot applesauce
2 cup sifted flour
1 Tablespoon cocoa
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cup sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup plumped raisins
1 cup chopped nuts
 
Stir soda into applesauce. sift flour, cocoa, salt and spices together. Cream butter and sugar ; add eggs. Stir in applesauce alternately with sifted ingredients, add vanilla, raisins, chopped nuts. Pour batter into oblong baking pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees

Update on quilt

 
I got the green on the redbud tree
even though the redbud tree is no longer here
I have decided to keep it here on the quilt
so much has changed since we have lived here

 
the front driveway is almost complete

 
adding the tree trunk in which has a climbing rose
